To address these challenges, our team conducted user research through surveys and usability studies with over 40 students and faculty. We uncovered consistent pain points: confusing navigation, inefficient search, and fragmented service pages. My contributions focused on turning those insights into scalable design solutions: - Object-Oriented UX Mapping – I defined and structured the core objects of the library ecosystem—such as Databases, Journals, Courses, Rooms, and Services—creating a foundation for a modular and consistent design system. - Design System Contributions – I built reusable Figma components that ensured visual cohesion across the site while streamlining developer handoff. - Interactive Prototyping – I designed and tested clickable prototypes for key tasks like finding a database, booking a study room, and accessing course reserves, validating usability improvements with real students. - Collaboration – I worked closely with librarians, PMs, and engineers to align institutional needs with user-centered workflows and ensure technical feasibility.

The redesigned Harold B. Lee Library website launched as a modern, accessible, and user-centered platform that better serves the BYU community. Key Results: - 32% increase in successful task completion (searching for databases, accessing course materials, booking rooms). - 41% faster time-to-resource compared to the old site. - Accessibility improvements that aligned the site with WCAG 2.1 standards. - Consistent, scalable design system that ensures future features can be added without breaking usability or visual consistency. - Positive feedback from students and faculty, with usability testing showing higher satisfaction and confidence navigating the site. This project showed how applying Object-Oriented UX, modular design systems, and user research can transform a large institutional website from a fragmented, frustrating experience into a platform that is intuitive, efficient, and future-ready.
