Pattern’s old reporting tools forced brand managers into rigid dashboards and Excel workarounds. I re-designed Custom Reports, a flexible system that lets users build, save, and share reports tailored to their needs—making complex ecommerce data simple and actionable.

To initiate the project, I started with discovery sessions and usability interviews with Pattern’s brand managers. These conversations revealed key frustrations: difficulty comparing multiple metrics at once, reliance on manual exports to Excel, and time lost building repetitive reports. From there, I mapped the end-to-end reporting workflow and identified where flexibility and clarity were most needed. I designed and prototyped reporting flows in Figma, focusing on information hierarchy, metric grouping, and customization options. Using an iterative approach, I tested prototypes with users, validated design decisions, and refined interactions based on their feedback. My role spanned: - User Research & Workflow Analysis – uncovering pain points and opportunities. - Interaction & Visual Design – translating complex datasets into simple, usable reporting flows. - Design Systems – extending Pattern’s design system to support scalable reporting components. - Cross-functional Collaboration – partnering with PMs and engineers to ensure feasibility and alignment.
3. Outcomes & Impact The redesigned Custom Reports tool gave brand managers a faster, more flexible way to work with their data. Instead of rigid dashboards or manual Excel workarounds, managers can now build, save, and share custom reports that directly match their business needs. Key results: - Reduced reporting friction by eliminating the need for manual Excel exports. - Empowered managers to compare critical metrics like ROAS, TACOS, and ad sales in a single, customizable view. - Delivered a scalable reporting system that supports hundreds of brands across Pattern’s portfolio. - Strengthened Pattern’s position as a data-driven partner for global ecommerce clients. Custom Reports turned what was once a tedious process into a streamlined, user-centered experience—allowing brand managers to focus less on manipulating data and more on making smarter, faster decisions.
